We don’t get a vast host of visitors who just so happen to be passing through northeastern Thailand, but we did have one who came to visit us for a day this past weekend. Bro. Erik Lutgert, owner of Gatorboards who sells wake board equipment and a student at Florida Baptist College, was in Thailand on a building trip and looked us up while he was here. Erik is a member of Unity Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Naples, FL. His church has been a faithful supporter of the ministry here in Thailand since we began the work. Thanks, Erik, for thinking of us… and to everyone else… stop by and visit if you happen to be passing through the neighborhood!

The construction of the building is coming along this month with the tile floor being laid and the walls painted. This week we will begin installing ceiling tile and light fixtures. We’re also working on building a septic tank and drainage system. Funds have been tight as the cost of labor and materials this month has been high. The past two weeks we’ve had to stop work because of the lack of funds, but the Lord has provided (as always) and we will finish the main part of this building project in the coming weeks. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the building fund. A special thanks goes out to everyone who continues to pray for my mental wellbeing throughout this stressful building project. We’re almost done! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel…..
“…tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope: and hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”

This past Sunday we were faced with a sticky situation when a young girl in the church was caught trying to steal the offering out of the offering plate on Sunday night. This was after it was noticed that the Sunday morning offering was missing. We went to the girl’s home and talked to her and her grandparents, who she lives with, and the outcome wasn’t good. Her grandmother said she had brought shame upon her family and would never be allowed to come back to church, nor would the rest of the family come back. We tried to talk to them again and explain that in Christian love and forgiveness, we want them to come back. This girl has been faithful to church for over two years. We ask that you pray for this situation

Rachel has just completed a new DVD video made especially for a ladies’ meeting at Westwood, our sponsoring church. It’s entitled, “The Life of a Missionary’s Wife,” and tells the story of the day to day activities of living in Thailand. Fifteen minutes long, the narration script has been published in Rachel’s Corner. If you would like a copy of this DVD, please email us your name and address, and we will get one to you as soon as possible. Please pray for Rachel as she nears her due date, yet continues to work very hard in the work here in Udon. God bless.

We were blessed this past weekend with a visit from two missionary couples from Chiang Mai, a city in the northwestern part of Thailand. Brent Rosendal and his wife Tawm and Rusty and Susan Teer came for a short visit and a visa run to Laos. Sis. Tawm will be working for International Christian Publishers as editor of the material that is translated by Kak here in Udon. It is always nice to fellowship with other missionaries, especially those who work in the same mission field and can understand specific situations that can occur in certain cultural instances. Please pray for this work and these two couples who are continuing the work begun by Bro. Nicky Barnett in the city of Chaing Mai and northern Thailand.

“Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” John 3:7
Today I was blessed to celebrate my “twenty-something-eth” birthday. Although a lot of people would rather not celebrate getting older, it seems better than the alternative. My gray is getting more pronounced and my spare tire might well fit on a monster truck. Thankfully for me, I’m not even close to being old yet, even though my mirror seems to keep lying to me about my age. My true birthday, my second one, took place on November 23, 1983 whe I trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for my salvation. Many people talk about being “born again.” If you don’t know what I’m talking about, my prayer is that you will seek the Lord and accept His free salvation. The second birth is the one that truly matters. For those who haven’t been born again, it would have been better that they had not been born the first time, for without the second, spiritual birth you will never know true life… which is life everlasting. “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.”
