PRAY

The greatest need of a missionary is something that anyone can fulfill. That need is fervent, effectual prayer. “The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” – James 5:16 Much talk is given about finances of mission work, not enough about prayer for mission work. The true power of missions lies not in how much money is given, but in how many effectual fervent prayers are offered.

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. And for me also, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel. For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”  - Ephesians 6:18-20

E.M. Bounds stated, “The key of all missionary success is prayer. That key is in the hands of the home churches. The trophies won by our Lord in heathen lands will be won by praying missionaries, not by professional workers in foreign lands. More especially will this success be won by saintly praying in the churches at home. The home church on her knees fasting and praying, is the great base of spiritual supplies, the sinews of war, and the pledge of victory in this dire and final conflict.”

The greatest help that you (or anyone) can be is to bow and pray for the missionaries and mission work on the foreign field.

BECOME MISSION MINDED

A mission minded church is a healthy church, a growing church, an obedient church. A mission minded heart is a blessed heart. An apathetic heart is the cause of so many missed blessings in our labor for the Lord. As we walk with Christ and endeavor to be more like Him, one characteristic of our Lord seems to overshadow all the rest: His loving desire to see the entire world redeemed. I would like to challenge you to have a heart that is burdened with the same desire of our Lord. I challenge you to have a heart stirred for missions!

“But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then sayeth he unto his disciples, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.”  - Matthew 9:36-37

Before you can have a mission minded mentality, you must have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Every person whose heart is stirred for mission work… to send, to support, to pray, to serve, to go and tell others about His Savior, have one thing in common: They have had a personal experience with God. They have personally met the Creator of the Universe. They have found in Him living water and salvation for their souls. They believe in Him, not because of others, but because of His own Word. Their hearts have been touched, have been broken, have been healed, have been stirred, and have heard Him for themselves, and know that He is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world. The Lord has a special plan for you. Everyone has a place in God’s will. It is up to you to take up your cross and fulfill the will of God for your life. Only then will you reap the full blessings that the Lord has in store for you.  If you have a special need or prayer that you would like to share with us, we would gladly pray with you about it. TAKE A MISSION TRIP

If it is at all possible, I would encourage you to visit a missionary on the foreign mission field sometime. A mission trip is a truly life changing experience that will touch your heart and affect the rest of your life. There are many opportunities for ministry here in Thailand. If you are a teacher, builder, Christian worker, etc. we could use you on a short term mission trip or a longer stay to help in the work if possible. For more information on upcoming opportunities to visit Thailand, click here to go to our mission trip page.
